Janez Žibert
Janez Žibert is a professor at the University of Ljubljana and at the University of Primorska, Slovenia. He received his PhD degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Ljubljana. He is an applied mathematician. His research interests include data analysis, statistical modelling, machine learning and signal processing in medicine and healthcare with a focus on the development of AI applications used in clinical practice. During the COVID19 pandemic, he also developed a mathematical model for epidemic forecasting, which served as one of the key models for decision-making during the COVID-19 epidemic in Slovenia, and participated in the initiative for epidemic forecasting in Europe organised by the ECDC. He is a member of the Slovenian Pattern Recognition Society, a member of the International Pattern Recognition Association (IAPR) and a member of the Slovenian Discrete and Applied Mathematics Society (SDAMS).
