Jernej Markelj is an Architect and a Researcher in the field of a Sustainable Built Environment. Since 2017 he is leading his Architectural atelier AaJM+, where they strive for design solutions that are attuned with the surrounding environment and not only minimize their environmental impact but also work restoratively. After finishing his Master Studies, Jernej was working three years in an international architecture office of Boris Podrecca in Vienna on various small and big scale projects in the region. He then pursued his Doctoral Study at the University of Ljubljana where he focused on the topic of building sustainability assessment. He gained additional expertise on advanced façade systems (Course FACE) at the Eurac Research Institute in Bolzano. He is a Building Energy Advisor in national ENSVET network and a correspondent for HIŠE Magazine. Many of his Design Proposals in co-authorship with others were awarded on open Architectural Competitions.
