Meghan Hren

Meghan Hren is a 3rd year undergraduate student at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and she’s majoring in Biology with Pre-Medical Studies and obtaining a minor in Medical Sociology. Her goal is to attend medical school and become a physician.

She’s originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up surrounded by a vivacious Slovenian community. She learned to love the Slovenian culture and their values of family and hard-work through her grandparents, Frank and Mara Hren, family, and the nearby Slovenian community of Slovenska Pristava. Each summer for the past decade, she has attended a week-long Slovenian camp at Pristava and is now a camp counselor there who aims to foster relationships amongst multiple generations while passing on the traditions of her culture.

Meghan looks forward to visiting Slovenia this summer and participating in research while learning more about her heritage and her family’s origins. She also hopes to reconnect with family still living in Slovenia and make lasting connections with her fellow ASEF companions. With her visit, she wishes to gain extensive knowledge and experiences that will aid her on her journey through and beyond medical school as well as skills that will allow her to become a stronger leader for younger generations.
