Graph Theory and Its Application in Practice

October 12, 2024 | 7:12 pm |

As part of the ASEF Young Minds project, ASEF, in cooperation with the FMF Student Organization organized a popular science lecture at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics. Matej Neuman, ASEF Junior Fellow generation 2022 and a doctoral student in mathematics at Cornell University in the USA, held the lecture.

Matej presented his experiences as part of a research visit he made to Simon Fraser University in Canada, under the mentorship of ASEF mentor prof. dr. Bojan Mohar. We further learned what graphs are and witnessed different types of graphs. Graphs can be extremely useful – with social networks, websites and family trees.

At the Jožef Stefan Institute, Matej applied his understanding of graphs to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations. We invite you to find out more about Matej’s field of research and how he looked for connections between individual goals and measured their co-influences.

The project is supported by the Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Youth.
