Cities of the Future III: Closing Round Table Under the ASEF 2021/2022 Tutorial Program

At the end of the 2021/2022 academic year of the ASEF Tutorial program, the American-Slovenian Educational Foundation (ASEF) is organizing the third interdisciplinary round table entitled “Cities of the Future III”.

The roundtable will take place on Wednesday, June 8, at 7 pm online.

ASEF Tutoring is a program that includes working with ASEF Junior Fellows in small groups in the form of independent research, discussion and writing papers on socially relevant topics, led by tutors in individual fields.

In the 2021/2022 academic year, each of the six groups chose one of the Sustainable Development Goals as defined by the United Nations (UN). Work on selected topics within individual groups will be presented under the title of the round table ‘Cities of the Future III’.

ASEF Junior Fellows Generation 2021 from six tutoring groups will take part in the round table with the findings of the tutoring meetings:

  • Biochemistry and Chemistry (tutor Dr. Zdenko Časar)
  • Economics and Business Informatics (tutor Dr. Tamara Pavasović Trošt)
  • Physics (tutor Dr. Sašo Grozdanov) Humanities (tutor Dr. Anamarija Šporčič)
  • Political Science and Sociology (tutor Dr. Tomaž Deželan)
  • Computer Science (tutor Dr. Ivan Bratko)

A special guest of the round table will be dr. Lučka Kajfež Bogataj, professor at the Department of Agronomy at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 as part of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) team. A year later, the then President of the Republic of Slovenia, Danilo Türk, awarded her the Order of Merit for her outstanding scientific work in the field of studying climate change and her commitment to environmental protection.

The event will be connected by Maja Ratej, daily editor and journalist at Val 202.

The event must be pre-registered by Wednesday, June 8, by 6 p.m. on this link. Registered participants will receive a link to access the roundtable by email on the day of the event.
