ASEF Junior Fellow Alek Dimitriev Lectured on the Topic of Modern Machine Learning

September 09, 2021 | 6:00 pm | Online

On Wednesday, September 8, ASEF Junior Fellow Alek Dimitriev lectured on the topic of modern machine learning as part of ASEF Young Mind popular science lectures. In more detail, Alek went into the presentation of his research work with binary variables as part of the evaluation of derivatives of discrete variables.

Alek mentioned in the introduction that he is interested in this type of research because there are a lot of people who are practically engaged in machine learning, but he himself believes that the methods used should be questioned with the help of theory. Therefore, he believes that derivatives play an important role in providing information on how to optimize a function.

Alek holds a master’s degree in computer science and informatics and is a doctoral student at the University of Texas at Austin. The event was connected by ASEF Junior Fellow Metod Jazbec.
