Greg Naterer
Greg F. Naterer is the Vice-President, Academic and Research, at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) in Charlottetown, Canada. He received his BMath in Applied Mathematics (1989) and MASc (1991) and PhD (1995) degrees in Mechanical Engineering, all from the University of Waterloo, Canada. Dr. Naterer has received several awards and honors including the Thermophysics Award of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and Jules Stachiewicz Medal of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering. He served as the Chair of the National Council of Deans of Engineering and Applied Science of Canada.
Research projects: Dr. Naterer’s research interests include heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and energy systems including solar, wind and hydrogen, with over 300 journal papers, 6 patents, and 3 books in these fields. Previously as a Canada Research Chair in Advanced Energy Systems (Tier 1), he led an international team consisting of seven collaborating institutions, four countries (including Slovenia), and five industry partners. The team developed the world’s first large–scale unit operations of a copper–chlorine (Cu–Cl) cycle of thermochemical water splitting for hydrogen production.
