Denis is currently enrolled in the Molecular and Functional Biology program of the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana. After completing his Bachelor of Science degree in the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematic in Maribor, he took a keen interest in the more medical side of biology and thus decided to pursue a career mainly focused on neuroscience and genetics. In his research, which currently focuses on the physiological role of MAGE proteins in the Prader-Willi and Schaaf-Yang syndromes, he is trying to combine classic genetic and neuroscientific methods with his love of neural network modeling and phylogenetic analyses. In his free time, he is a volunteer firefighter and a Red Cross certified paramedic. He is very excited to have been given this opportunity and cannot wait to meet his mentor, dr. Fon Tacer in Amarillo, Texas.
