Shepard Anna

Anna Shepard is a second-year undergraduate student at the University of Cincinnati, where she is majoring in Medical Sciences and minoring in Integrative Health. Her professional interests reside in healthcare and clinical research as she is currently working towards her post-graduate plans of medical school and graduate school in order to become a physician-scientist. During her visit, she aims to develop an international perspective, in which she can approach problems and her own research in the future with a world view. Anna is extremely grateful for the opportunity to visit Slovenia not only to participate in research at an early stage in her academic and research career, but also to deepen her knowledge and appreciation for Slovenia.

Anna already has a deep fondness of Slovenian culture (and food) from her Slovenian grandparents, attending Slovenian events in Cleveland, Ohio, and her 10 years as an elementary and middle school student attending a Saturday morning Slovenian language school. She is excited to be immersed in the culture, learn more of the Slovene language, explore the country’s natural beauty, and visit her family in Slovenia all while pursuing her interests in medicine, science, and research.
