Rebselj Jure

Jure is finishing his bachelor’s studies at the Biotechnical faculty of the University of Ljubljana. He got his first research experience with his bachelor’s thesis, about new enzymes from marine microorganisms. In addition, he finished an individual research project in the department for microbiology and microbial biotechnology of the Biotechnical faculty. He likes to spend his free time outdoors or by reading an interesting book. He sees great importance in constant learning and sharing knowledge with others. He was a member of a student organization called Project LOKUS, where he was giving lectures to high school students and writing articles for a broader audience about genetically modified organisms and their applications. He is also a member of the European student organization BEST (Board of European Students of Technology), where he participated in the organization of summer school, the biggest European student engineering competition and other events with the primary goal of sharing knowledge. He is excited to become a part of ASEF and continue organizing educational events and projects. As an ASEF junior fellow, Jure will visit dr. Jernej Ule in London, where he will join the research on RNA networks in nerve cells. For him this will be a great opportunity to strengthen his knowledge about bioinformatic tools and analysis.
