Novljan Jona

Jona is currently a 1st year master’s degree student of biotechnology at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana. During his education he worked in the field of neurodegenerative diseases with doc. dr. Helena Motaln at the Jožef Štefan Institute, where he participated in research on RNA-binding proteins, their interactions, and localization within neurons. He later extended his studies to the biology of plant-microbial interactions at AciesBio, where he earned his degree and where he still works as a research assistant. Over the summer, he will join the laboratory of prof. dr. Jernej Murn in California, where he wants to further broaden his knowledge of RNA-binding proteins and methods of bioinformatical data analysis. In addition to research work, Jona also works in the association BEST (Board of European Students of Technology), where he is the co-founder and main organizer of the event Biofair. He is also involved in humanitarian projects such as Summerjob and Pearls.
