Corn Matej

Matej Corn is an undergraduate student of chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology (FCCT) University of Ljubljana and is currently enjoying his extra year after finishing all the exams. During his studies he participated in Student Inovative Project for Social Benefit named The importance of environmental factors in the conservation of written cultural heritage. For a year and a half he worked as a student and intern in company Lek d.d., Novartis divison on a department of assuring Quality Control of aseptic products. For his bachelor degree he has been working under mentorship of izr. prof. dr. Jernej Iskra, from FKKT. His thesis was development of a method for selective oxidation of sulfides under green conditions. Matej has as an ASEF fellow received an opurtunity to work at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he will participate in a project of total synthesis of complex and biologically active products under mentorship of prof. David Šarlah. After a day of working in a laboratory he relaxes in a game of volleyball, tarok or playing guitar but sometimes only by watching a good TV serie or a movie.
