Tina Logonder is a master’s student in biochemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the University of Ljubljana. She is currently doing laboratory work in the biotechnology company Acies Bio as part of her master’s thesis. The work focuses on the preparation and characterization of Yarrowia lipolytica yeast strains with altered lipid metabolism. Besides that, she gained practical experience mainly through laboratory work for her bachelor’s thesis, which included the preparation of recombinant constructs for the expression of the EpCAM protein in mammalian cell lines. She has been interested in natural sciences since primary school and has regularly successfully participated in various competitions. She won a bronze medal at the International Biology Olympiad. Because she finds competitions to be an excellent opportunity to deepen knowledge, she now helps assess competition sheets of national knowledge competitions (biology, logic, natural science). She enjoys spending time in nature, drawing, playing chess, and snowboarding in the winter. She is excited about visiting prof. dr. Boštjan Kobe at the University of Queensland in Australia, where she will work in the field of structural biology.
