Vižintin Angelika

Angelika Vižintin completed her BSc in Biotechnology at Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana, and received the recognition of Biotechnical Faculty for undergraduate students with the best scholarly achievements. At the moment she is a MSc student of Biochemistry at the Faculty for Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana. Her research interests are broad and she has joined several academic projects during her studies.

Currently, she is focusing on toxin-antitoxin systems in cyanobacteria, microorganisms that obtain their energy through photosynthesis. Angelika is looking forward to join Dr. Mihaela Pavličev at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center through the ASEF Fellowship program. She will be involved in a research project with the aim to better understand the regulation of gene expression in human placental cells. In her free time, she is communicating scientific topics with the audience of Radio Študent (one of Europe’s oldest and strongest independent and non-commercial radio stations), attending cultural events, tasting craft beers or simply relaxing in nature with friends.
