ASEF Fellow Sonja Košir From the U.S. Concluded Her Summer Research Visit to Slovenia
This summer 2021 ASEF Fellow from Cincinnati, the United States, Sonja Košir, spent her research visit working with her mentors Prof. Dr. Damijan Miklavčič and Angelika Vižintin at the Laboratory of Biocybernetics within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana. She conducted research comparing the impact of metal ions on cell viability for electroporated and nonelectroporated rat cardio myoblast cells and published a paper to be presented at the ERK annual conference. Sonja spent most of her time at the laboratory conducting experiments on cultured cells but also enjoyed the opportunity to learn from and work with some of the lead researchers in electroporation technology. Outside of work, Sonja got to experience living with her family in Ljubljana and greatly enjoyed exploring Slovenija with her friends and family.
