Use of Computer Simulations in Medicine
On Wednesday, November 9, ASEF, in cooperation with the Student Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Maribor, organized the November popular science lecture as part of the ASEF Young Minds lecture series. Žiga Donik, ASEF Junior Fellow generation 2022 and a young researcher at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Maribor, held the lecture.
Firstly Žiga presented the general usefulness of computer simulations in practice and then focused on the use of computer simulations in medicine, related to vascular surgery and vascular stents. He enriched the lecture with many dynamic visual displays and practical tools.
Žiga concluded the lecture with a presentation of his experience as part of his research visit at the University of Chicago in the United States of America where he worked under the mentorship of ASEF mentor, dr. Luka Počivavšek.
Andreja Kumer, president of the Student Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Maribor, welcomed the participants, and Vid Keršič, ASEF Junior Fellow generation 2021, coordinated the entire event.
The ASEF Young Minds project is supported by the Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Youth and the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenes Abroad and the World.
