The First Interdisciplinary ASEF Tutoring Session

Ljubljana, February 12, 2026 – In a world where challenges are becoming increasingly complex, answers rarely lie within the boundaries of a single discipline. Guided by this principle, we organized the first interdisciplinary tutoring meeting, bringing together five tutoring groups under one roof: Computer Science, (Bio)chemistry, Medicine, Physics and Technology, and Social Sciences. The purpose of the event was to facilitate the exchange of ideas between groups, push the boundaries of conventional thinking, share insights from various fields, and transform theory into tangible solutions for the industry.

Under the guidance of renowned tutors Prof. Dr. Janez Žibert, Prof. Dr. Ivan Bratko, Prof. Dr. Tomaž Deželan, Dr. Alen Krajnc, and Prof. Dr. Sašo Grozdanov the event served as a platform for shifting perspectives and turning theoretical knowledge into practical industrial applications. This year’s research themes for all tutoring groups are rooted in Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG 9): Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.

The highlight of the meeting was the first interdisciplinary tutoring “speed dating.” Five groups engaged in four rounds of intensive networking and opinion sharing. This format encouraged participants to explain their complex findings to colleagues from other tutoring groups in a clear and understandable manner. It allowed them to potentially discover solutions to challenges at the intersection of disciplines where they least expected them, while developing a holistic view of the problems at hand.
