Managing Cyber Risks and Exploring Natural Sites: Tim Vidmar in Australia
Tim Vidmar, ASEF Junior Fellow 2023, has completed his research visit at the University of Queensland, School of Business, under the mentorship of Associate Professor Sergeja Slapničar.
Tim worked on managing cyber risks in the supply chain, more specifically on cyber risk assessment and monitoring of suppliers. Cyber-attacks on organizations are becoming common occurrences, but not enough emphasis is put on the possibility of them occurring through suppliers. By having a detailed risk management plan focal companies can better prepare for possible risks and mitigate the outcomes.
During his free time, Tim visited the natural and cultural sites of Australia. He surfed on the Gold Coast, camped in Noosa National Park, visited the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to take pictures with kangaroos and koalas, went on a whale-watching tour on Moreton Island, and swam on Coolum Beach, where he saw the second most venomous snake in the world. After the research visit, he went scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef, drove on the Great Ocean Road, and visited the Sydney Opera House.
The research visit was an incredible experience for Tim. Together with his mentor, he is planning to publish the findings in a scientific journal. Tim would like to thank ASEF for making the visit possible. He is grateful to Sergeja for being a wonderful mentor, who went beyond to make his research visit unforgettable.
