ASEF Tutorial Program Reaches a Milestone with Strengthened Collaboration and New Opportunities

February 21, 2025 | 3:56 pm |

On Wednesday, February 19, ASEF Tutors met with the ASEF Team in Ljubljana to review the program’s progress and outline directions for future activities.

Dr. Jože Rožanec, ASEF Tutorial Program Lead, presented the program’s key achievements and insights from tutees on its implementation. This was followed by an open discussion on opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, challenges, and possibilities for program improvements. Special attention was also given to preparations for the first joint roundtable discussion.

This year, tutorship groups have been addressing a broad range of diverse topics in their monthly meetings, all centered around the theme of hunger eradication and sustainable nutrition, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Tutees approach the central theme from various perspectives, including the cultural and historical significance of beekeeping, methods for evaluating honey samples, the effects of malnutrition on growth and development, and the sustainability of different diets in relation to health.

The fifth year of the ASEF Tutorial Program marks a significant milestone in its development. The tutorship groups for computer science and environmental protection and tourism have joined forces on a joint project, collaborating with organizations such as the Slovenian Beekeeping Academy and the Slovenian Beekeeping Association.

The meeting was attended by the ASEF Tutors, including Prof. Dr. Ivan Bratko (Computer Science), Prof. Dr. Janez Žibert (Medicine), Prof. Dr. Miha Humar (Environmental Protection and Tourism), and Dr. Alen Krajnc (Biochemistry and Chemistry). The program also includes Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sašo Grozdanov (Physics and Engineering) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Petra Weingerl (Law and Social Sciences). From the ASEF Slovenia Office, Barbara Zagorc and Anja Robida also participated in the meeting.

Encouraged by the program’s successful collaboration, ASEF eagerly anticipates the first roundtable discussion, scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, 2025. The event will bring together six tutorship groups, allowing them to present their initial research findings while opening the floor for broader public discussion.
