ASEF Junior Fellowship RESEARCH ABROAD: Applications for 2025 Are Now Open!

We are excited to announce that applications for the 2025 ASEF Junior Fellowship are now open! This esteemed program offers Slovenian students and researchers a unique opportunity to gain invaluable international experience while contributing to their fields and the Slovenian community.

What is the Junior Fellowship Research Abroad?

The Junior Fellowship Research Abroad is a dynamic two-year program designed to foster research and study exchanges between Slovenia and leading international institutions. In the first year, Fellows will undertake a transformative 10-week research visit at a top university or research center, working closely with a mentor. They will also engage in ASEF-organized activities, including research projects, leadership workshops, and public lectures. The second year focuses on giving back, with opportunities to mentor future ASEF Fellows, stay involved in ASEF activities, and participate in our tutoring program.

Is This Program Right for You?

Before applying, consider if you are passionate about research and eager to contribute to the Slovenian community. Are you prepared to spend 10 weeks abroad with a leading Slovenian professor? Do you have a genuine interest in ASEF’s diverse activities and sharing your experiences? If these questions resonate with you, the ASEF Junior Fellowship could be the perfect fit.

Application Process and Key Dates

The application period is open from 16th September to 3rd November 2024. After submission, shortlisted candidates will be notified by 6th November 2024 and will need to submit video responses to three questions between 6th and 13th November 2024. Final selection and mentor assignments will be announced on 22nd December 2024.

What Does the Fellowship Cover?

The fellowship provides comprehensive support, including coverage for travel and accommodation, as well as living expenses during the research visit. This support allows Fellows to focus on their research and professional development without financial concerns.

Fellow Responsibilities

As a Fellow, you will stay connected with ASEF, participate in at least four ASEF events, give a talk, engage in tutoring and mentoring, and document your progress. Promoting ASEF’s impact and opportunities is also a key responsibility.

Online Info Sessions

To help prospective applicants understand the program better, we will host four online info sessions, each tailored to different research fields:

• Medical and Health Sciences (8th October at 16:00 CEST)
  Fields: Medicine, Dentistry

• Engineering, Mathematics, and Technology (15th October at 16:00 CEST)
  Fields: Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Geoinformation Sciences and Urban Planning

• Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts (16th October at 18:00 CEST)
  Fields: Economics and Business, Law, Political and Social Studies, Linguistics, Music

• Natural and Physical Sciences (18th October at 16:00 CEST)
  Fields: Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Marine and Environmental Affairs, Veterinary Sciences

We are excited to announce that applications for Info Hour will open up to 2 weeks before the event date via Eventbrite. During the first 30 minutes of the session, we will present detailed information about our program, introduce our mentors, and explain the application process. Following the presentation, there will be a Q&A session where you can interact with ALUMNI ASEF fellows and members of the ASEF Team.
