ASEF Junior Fellows at the 6th Annual Summer Picnic in Tivoli Park

On Thursday, June 19, 2025, the 6th annual ASEF summer picnic took place in the green setting of Tivoli Park in Ljubljana. This traditional event brings together ASEF Junior Fellows from different generations and, once again, successfully fostered connections among them.

Sixteen Fellows from three different generations attended the picnic, each bringing along a variety of snacks and drinks. The afternoon was enriched by local Slovenian treats, cider, and homemade pastries, as well as traditional Argentine flavors, including the refreshing drink Tereré and delicious Argentine pastries—adding a truly international flair to the gathering.

During relaxed conversations, Slovenian Fellows asked the international visitors about their first impressions of Slovenia. They highlighted the country’s natural beauty, great food, warm people, and the inspiring opportunities offered through their research. One of the international Fellows enthusiastically shared that her research focuses on the olm, a unique amphibian native to Slovenia, showing how Slovenia’s natural wonders spark curiosity far beyond its borders.

Some Fellows even made plans to stay in touch and visit each other in their respective countries after the program ends. Others expressed a strong desire to attend more ASEF events in the future.

With every new generation, the ASEF community continues to grow and strengthen. We are delighted to have spent another meaningful afternoon together and are already looking forward to the next gatherings that will keep connecting young researchers from Slovenia and around the world.
