ASEF Junior Fellow Adrian M. Grobelnik Successfully Concludes His Research Visit at Stanford University

September 18, 2024

Adrian Mladenić Grobelnik, ASEF Junior Fellow generation 2024, recently completed his research visit at Stanford University, where he worked under the mentorship of Prof Dr Jure Leskovec. During his visit, Adrian focused on exploring innovative approaches to problem-solving using artificial intelligence.

Adrian’s research centered on developing recursive self-improving systems made up of Large Language Model (LLM) agents. These agents work within hierarchical structures that simulate the decision-making processes of human organizations. By using recursive frameworks, the system allows agents to collaborate, evaluate their performance, and correct mistakes, leading to continuous improvement in solving complex tasks. A paper detailing Adrian’s work is currently in preparation and will soon be submitted for publication.

Adrian commented on the outcomes of his research work:

“Our main conclusion was that the approach, where agents can continuously self-improve, is the key to automating solving complex tasks. Using memory, self-evaluation and recursive structures, we created a system that can autonomously solve problems while continuously improving and adapting to new challenges.”

Besides his diligent work on recursive self-improving systems of LLM agents, Adrian managed to find time to explore his host state. He explored some of California’s famous natural and urban destinations. He visited Sequoia National Park, where he marveled at the massive trees, and spent time in San Francisco, enjoying the city’s unique culture and landmarks. Adrian also relaxed by visiting several beaches along the coast of California.

Adrian expressed gratitude to ASEF for the opportunity to collaborate with experts at Stanford and would like to thank Professor Jure Leskovec for his mentorship during the visit. He looks forward to publishing his findings and further contributing to advancements in the AI field.

We offer our sincere congratulations to Adrian and wish him the best of luck in his future research work! We’re also grateful to Prof Dr Jure Leskovec for his quality mentorship.

We also thank the Government Office for Slovenians Abroad, the Office for Youth and all ASEF donors for supporting the work of ASEF and our Junior Fellows.
