Ana Reberc presented The phenomenon of stand-up comedy in Slovenia

The seventh ASEF Young Minds lecture was held on November 28 at the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Ljubljana. The lecture was given by Ana Reberc, ASEF Junior Fellow 2018, a researcher at the Institute for Slovenian Emigration and Migration of ZRC SAZU, and a PhD student at the Graduate School of ZRC SAZU. 

Ana explained a widely popular form of leisure entertainment, which evokes thunderous laughter throughout Slovenia: “Stand-up comedy consists of elements of a shared past – the joke, the comedian, and the audience must be completely intertwined with the social and historical context. Only in this way can the joke be successfully decoded, and from the audience we can hear a massive affective response – laughter.”
