ABOUT THE LECTURE

Speech and language therapy encompases diagnostics and therapy of speech, language, voice and swallowing disorders. Large language models, such as ChatGPT, have lately become good assistants to people in multiple fields, even non computational ones. How can speech and language therapists use ChatGPT for their everyday tasks of diagnosis and therapy? Speech and language therapist Ajda Óvári will present the findings of her research visit to University of California, Berkeley where she worked with Dr. Gašper Beguš.

She is a qualified speech and language therapist and currently works for Magic Words Therapy. Her work encompases diagnosis and therapy of children from 2 to 18 years old in mainstream and SEMH (social, emotional and mental health needs) schools and a clinic, across Hertfordshire and West Essex. ASEF YOUNG MINDS

ASEF Young Minds is a series of popular science lectures, which encourages young people to present their research work and experience gained within the framework of the ASEF fellowship program in a way that is accessible and understandable to the general public. In the project, ASEF connects with local organizations that operate in the places where the lecturers come from. The aim of cooperation is to connect and integrate young learners into the local Slovenian environment.

ASEF connects and unites Slovenian scientists and academics all over the world.

The Slovenian Association of Speech and Language Therapists (Društvo logopedov Slovenije, DlogS) is a voluntary, independent and professional association of speech and language therapists in the Republic of Slovenia. It is a non-governmental, non-profit and non-partisan association, which brings together individuals from the fields of science, health, education, social care for the purpose of transferring professional knowledge and modern speech therapy doctrine to Slovenian speech therapists. It was founded on 20 May 2004 because of the long-standing need to independently address and represent the professional interests of speech therapists in Slovenia.

Adult Education Centre Kranj carries out intergenerational cooperation activities in the Intergenerational Centre. It offers monthly activities and lectures on healthy living, personal growth, foreign languages, creativity, culture, intercultural and intergenerational socializing. The programme aims to transfer knowledge, skills, competences, norms and values between different generations, cultures and vulnerable groups in a non-formal and informal way. Intergenerational cooperation is linked to community action and involves a wide range of organizations.

The project is supported by the Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Youth and the Government Office for Slovenians Abroad.
