Between Algorithms and Empathy: How AI and Virtual Worlds are Shaping Our Future?

April 03, 2026 | 4:45 pm |

The world is digitizing at an accelerated pace, and the boundary between the physical and the virtual is vanishing. Do you wonder how a line of code or VR goggles can actually change the quality of our lives?

We invite you to an interdisciplinary webinar prepared by ASEF in cooperation with the Competence Center for Artificial Intelligence (KCUI). Together with top experts, we will explore the intersections of artificial intelligence, design, engineering, and medicine.

Technology with a Human Face

The keynote guest of the webinar will be Dr. Kaja Antlej, a pioneer of 3D innovations from Deakin University in Australia and an ASEF mentor. Dr. Antlej will reveal how virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence combine to help people in isolation—from remote corners of Australia to astronauts in space. You will learn how smartly designed digital experiences can become a key tool for improving well-being where physical contact is limited.

Authenticity in the Digital Age

A unique perspective on digital transformation will be provided by Jaka Godejša, an ASEF Fellow (Class of 2024). Jaka will refresh our understanding of authenticity in tourism and show how artificial intelligence and blockchain technology do not erase tradition, but rather open doors to a world of new, content-rich digital experiences. He will present practical examples, such as NFT dinner tickets and the development of AI chatbots that do not “hallucinate”.

VR as a Therapeutic Tool

The story of transferring technology into humane practice will be completed by Tjaša Šavorič, a doctoral student at Deakin and Coventry Universities and an ASEF Fellow (Class of 2021). Tjaša will lead us into the clinical environments of the future. She will present how artistically designed VR experiences and eye-tracking technology can help patients in intensive care overcome anxiety, stress, and the loss of a sense of control.

Why Join Us?

This webinar is not just a series of lectures, but an interdisciplinary journey where we will discover how technologies like augmented reality and artificial intelligence build bridges between cultural heritage, modern tourism, and life’s most difficult trials. The event will conclude with a moderated discussion on ethical issues and the transfer of Australian experiences to the Slovenian space.
