Sustainable Food Systems: An Interdisciplinary Perspective on Challenges and Possible Solutions

First Roundtable within the ASEF Tutoring 2024/2025 (hybrid implementation)

After 4 months of in-depth work within the ASEF tutoring group, the ASEF Tutoring program is organizing the first roundtable entitled “Sustainable Food Systems: An Interdisciplinary Perspective on Challenges and Possible Solutions I”.

The roundtable will take place on Wednesday, March 19, at 6 pm in the Prešeren Hall at the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (Novi trg 4, 1000 Ljubljana) and via Zoom. Registration for the event is required via Eventbrite.

ASEF Tutoring is a program that involves working with ASEF fellows in small groups in the form of independent research, discussion and writing contributions on socially relevant topics, led by tutors in individual fields.

In the academic year 2024/2025, each of the six groups has chosen one of the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations (UN). The work on the selected topics within each group will be presented under the title of the round table “Sustainable Food Systems: An Interdisciplinary Perspective on Challenges and Possible Solutions I”.

The roundtable will feature the findings of the ASEF 2024 scholarship holders from six tutor groups:

Biochemistry and Chemistry (mentor Dr. Alen Krajnc)
Physics and Engineering (mentor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sašo Grozdanov)
Medicine (mentor Prof. Dr. Janez Žibert)
Law and Social Sciences (tutor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Petra Weingerl)
Computer Science (mentor Prof. Dr. Ivan Bratko) (SAZU)
Environmental Protection and Tourism (mentor Prof. Dr. Miha Humar) (SAZU)

Pre-registration for the event is required by Wednesday, March 19, at 4 p.m. When registering, select the type of participation – on location or via Zoom. All registered participants will receive a Zoom link to access the roundtable by email on the day of the event.

The event is organized with the support of the Slovenian Youth Office and the Public Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation of the Republic of Slovenia.
