On Wednesday, April 3, ASEF Young Minds visited Kranj for a popular science lecture co-organised with Slovenian Speech and Language Therapists Association and Adult Education Center Kranj. The lecture was given by Ajda Óvári, ASEF Junior Fellow 2021, a qualified speech and language therapist who currently works for Magic Words Therapy. She conducted her research visit in autumn 2023 with ASEF Mentor Dr. Gašper Beguš at the University of California, Berkeley.

In the lecture, which took place at the Intergenerational Center Kranj, Anja emphasized: “Speech therapy doesn’t just “fix” the pronunciation of the ‘R’ sound and stuttering, it helps people to communicate with the world and the people around them, which is a basic need and right for everyone.”

The next popular science lecture in the ASEF Young Minds series will take place on May 22, at 5 p.m. on the premise of LokalPatriot (Cesta talcev 7, 4000 Kranj). This time, Luka Petravić, MD, ASEF Junior Fellow 2023 and a young doctor who has passed the basic license exam and is about to choose a specialty, will talk about interesting projects where they were able to add value with data in the field of medicine and his work in Dr. Luka Pocivavsek’s laboratory in Chicago.

The project is implemented with the support of the Office for Youth and the Office for Slovenians Abroad.
