Empowering Women and Girls in Science and Leadership: From Discovery to the Market
On February 8, 2024, the Republic of Slovenia together with ASEF, VTIS Association and OnaVe hosted a side event titled “Empowering Women and Girls in Science and Leadership: From Discovery to the Market” at the United Nations Headquarters commemorating the 9th international Day of Women and Girls in Science. The event brought together experts, policymakers, and advocates to discuss the achievements and challenges faced by women and girls in STEM fields.
The event provided a platform for insightful discussions on various topics, including the importance of gender equality in science, strategies to empower women and girls in STEM education and careers, and the role of women in driving innovation and sustainable development. Distinguished speakers shared their experiences, insights, and best practices, inspiring action towards a more inclusive and equitable scientific community.
The event serves as a timely reminder of the urgent need to address gender disparities in science and ensure equal opportunities for women and girls to pursue and excel in STEM fields. It underscored the importance of collective action and collaboration among stakeholders to advance gender equality in science and harness the full potential of women and girls as drivers of innovation and progress.
