Meet Dr. Uroš Seljak
Dr. Uroš Seljak is a professor in the Department of Physics at the University of California, Berkeley, a mentor at the American Slovenian Education Foundation (ASEF) and an alumnus of the University of Ljubljana (UL). His research focuses on applying theory and data analysis methods to fields of astronomy, cosmology, physics, and beyond.
In 2021, he was awarded the Gruber Prize, one of the world’s most prestigious scientific awards in cosmology, by the Gruber Foundation of Yale University. He was awarded the 500,000 USD prize along with two other winners for their significant contributions to methods that are key to the study and understanding of the origin of the Universe.
With his part of the prize, Dr. Seljak has established a charitable fund to support the best scientific publications by Slovenian students each year in the form of an award of 10,000 USD.
The call for applications for the Dr. Uroš Seljak Award is launched annually by the University of Ljubljana and the ASEF Institute.
