Matija Kiker
Bio:
Matija is a fifth-year medical student at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana. His primary interests lie in vascular and cardiovascular surgery, which is why he will participate in the ASEF Junior Fellowship program as a visiting student under the mentorship of Prof. Luka Počivavšek at the University of Chicago.
Projects:
In addition to his studies, he is actively involved in research and has been involved in several research projects, including the project Functional Characterization of Genetic Variants of Uncertain Clinical Significance (2025). He is also a recipient of the Prešeren Recognition of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana (2024). He acquires practical experience at the Surgical Sanatorium Rožna Dolina, and has also worked at MESI in the field of clinical research (2024–2026). Since 2025, he serves as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Medicinski razgledi. In his free time, he is engaged in aviation and running.
