Jakob Fir
Bio:
Jakob Fir is a first-year Master’s student of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Ljubljana, where he also completed his Bachelor’s degree. His Bachelor’s thesis focused on deep learning based reconstruction of sea-surface height fields for oceanographic prediction. His academic interests lie primarily in deep learning and data-driven modeling.
Projects:
Alongside his studies, Jakob has gained industry experience working on speech transcription technologies and decentralized systems, focusing on applied machine learning and system-level challenges. He has also participated in international cybersecurity competitions and hackathons across multiple continents, where he won multiple prizes.
In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor sports, including mountain biking, boulder climbing, and skiing. As part of the ASEF Junior Fellowship, he will visit Professor Dawn Song at UC Berkeley, where he will conduct research in artificial intelligence security.
