Jakob Bratkovič
Bio:
Jakob Bratkovič is a Research Associate at the Jožef Stefan Institute, specializing in Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCT-A). His research focuses on the experimental aspects of OCT-A imaging, contributing to interdisciplinary projects within the field of biomedical optics.
He is currently a second-year M.Sc. student of Medical Physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana. He holds a B.Sc. in Physics from the same faculty, where he built a solid foundation in theoretical and applied physics. His undergraduate thesis explored the Fokker–Planck equation, reflecting his interest in the intersection of physics, medical imaging, and quantitative analysis.
Projects:
Beyond his research, Jakob is an accomplished competitive chess player who has represented Slovenia at numerous international youth Olympiads and World Youth Chess Championships, earning several national youth titles and a third-place finish at the European School Chess Championship. Outside of his academic and strategic pursuits, he maintains an active lifestyle by playing football for a local team, enjoying regular beach volleyball sessions, and occasionally heading to the mountains for hiking.
