Integrative Structural Biology
On Thursday, December 17, ASEF Professor Andrej Šali, PhD, Professor at the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences, University of California San Francisco, held a lecture on Integrative Structural Biology as part of our ASEF Speaker Series program. In his lecture, prof. Šali presented the work of his research group, which is to develop and apply spatiotemporal modeling methods to facilitate biological and biomedical discovery. Here, the integrative model helps them, as it uses multiple types of information simultaneously, maximizes accuracy, precision, completeness, and efficiency in modeling, and finds all models for which computed data match the experimental data within an acceptable threshold. Prof. Šali showed how application to models works with the example of the nuclear pore complex.
The event was part of our ASEF Speaker Series program and was moderated by 2020 ASEF Fellow Tim Prezelj.
